The WebComic Planet Collective (WCPC) is not your typical collective community. The WCPC is for serious authors who want to work together with others to make MONEY with their products.
Having a listing or account on WCP does not denote that you are a member of WCPC. WCPC membership is more akin to a collective of webcomics that have banded together to communicate between each other and to achieve specific goals. The underlying key factor behind all of this being the financial success of the WCPC members as a group.
Like other collectives, there are requirements of activity, participation and banner space on your individual websites. There is no requirement that this is the only collective that you are involved with.
WCPC Benefits:
- Providing information and technical advice between all the members of the WCPC;
- Cross linking promotions;
- Cross site events;
- Team efforts in gaining knowledge and developing how-to’s for creating a financially viable WebComic community site;
- In the future – lower costs on items and discount prices at various stores and retailers for supplies; and
- More (to be announced)!
WCPC membership requirements:
- Your site must show that it has the potential for increasing revenues (including how the comic is portrayed – from artistic style, to writing, through to the overall site design);
- The author(s) of the site need to show they are promoting their own site (if you do not actively participate in promoting your own site, you are, in all probability, not going to be able to achieve a financial success for your site);
- Show the WCPC group banner on, at minimum, the first page seen on your site/the index page (this is not the same as the WCPC Members link but is actually referring to a link back to the collective, itself);
- Be able to participate actively in the Collective’s discussions in providing your ideas, suggestions, comments, votes, etc..
- Be able to openly discuss ideas, thoughts, and opinions without being derogatory or undermining others;
- Be open to cross-promotions with other members of the collective;
- Have a consistent update schedule comprising of a minimum of three (3) or more times a week (at least one update being an actual comic – blogs, guest art, and anything else, as long as it is posted to your site, counts as an update); and
- Be able to provide links to at least ten (10) of the WCPC members on your site in any location of your choice (such as your links section, sidebar, etc – we have a WordPress Widget available to help with this).
To apply to be a WCPC member use the WCPC Membership Application. After your application is reviewed, you will be contacted with information for the next step in the process. This is in no way elitist, what we are looking for is the potential for everyone involved.
The WCPC member banner is there to, primarily, provide funds for collaborations and events that the WCPC members are invovled in, including advertisements and conventions. Having the funds banner display on your site is NOT a requirement of the WCPC.
